When you decide to contact us

You Don’t Have To Go Through It Alone

We are here to help you “figure it out”.  We want you to understand that there is somebody who cares enough about you, who’s willing to get in the boat with you – with your stuff and just help you figure it out… to compassionately help you sort through it and find a way.

There is always hope, always a solution somewhere within the problem and you don’t have to go through it alone.

Coming to see a counsellor/psychotherapist at CHIRON Community Counselling

At your first contact with Chiron, you will decide how our service can help you. The fee is agreed with the Chiron Co-ordinator who will also help match you with an appropriate therapist. You choose to work with a therapist with the following levels of qualifications and experience –

Qualified and Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist – €50 per session

Qualified and Pre-Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist – €30 per session

Trainee Counsellor/Psychotherapist – €20 per session (this is a donation to cover room costs only)

Chiron offers an affordable counselling service to members of the community. Inability to pay does not mean you cannot receive support. Help is always available to you. If you decide to use our service appointments are offered as soon as possible.

This confidential relationship is mutually trusting, can be for any number of sessions, can continue for months or even years depending on your needs.

If you have to cancel an appointment it would be helpful to give 2 days’ notice to accommodate another client who may be waiting for an appointment.

Meeting your counsellor/psychotherapist

If you and your counsellor decide to work together the sessions will take place at CHIRON Community Counselling and Psychotherapy rooms, usually once a week for one hour. You will make a commitment to yourself and your counsellor that you will come to your counselling session.

You also need to know that counselling can be a difficult process. The counsellor is there to help you heal your painful experience. Your counsellor will be non-judgemental, compassionate and will support you to live a more contented confident and fulfilling life.

At CHIRON we aim to meet your needs in a holistic and comprehensive manner. We will respect your choices at all times. Towards the end of the counselling process, you and your counsellor may wish to discuss contacting or referring to another service, joining a support group or simply finishing counselling.

All personal information is treated in the strictest confidence by Chiron counsellors/ psychotherapists and staff. At the first meeting your counsellor will clearly explain about the rare occasions when confidentiality might be broken with or without your consent.
